Riverside - Chest of Drawers

A bespoke oak Chest of Drawers with natural edge drawer fronts inspired by Mid Century Modern design. This handsome chest of drawers takes it name from the Riverside Park area of Jedburgh. Riverside is the location of the huge oak tree that this piece is made from.

Designed as a Chest of Drawers or 'Tallboy' in a Mid Century Modern style the piece has a clean and precise profile. This simplicity allows the wild grain of the ancient oak wood to shine. Enhanced by handcut dovetails the piece commands attention in any room.

The six drawers (in 5 rows of increasing depth) are made with half lap dovetails in the traditional style. Each drawer has a thick veneer of sycamore applied to the front face. This natural edge veneer gives an organic feel and sense of depth to the piece. Recessed finger pulls underneath each drawer are accessed via cutouts in the framework. Sycamore is also used in the drawer construction to compliment the darker oak.

The chest sits on a simple four legged stand in oak and sycamore with short tapered legs. Cedar back panels give a lovely woody aroma whenever the drawers are opened.
